EVO ICL

EVO ICL

EVO ICL is an excellent option for patients with high myopia who may not be ideal candidates for LASIK or other laser vision correction procedures. Unlike LASIK, the cornea is not reshaped. Instead, a thin, biocompatible lens—customized with the patient’s prescription—is gently implanted inside the eye. EVO ICL can correct significantly higher levels of nearsightedness than LASIK, and because no corneal tissue is removed, the procedure is reversible if needed. For patients concerned about dry eyes or looking for an alternative to laser vision correction, EVO ICL offers clear, lasting vision and the flexibility of a removable lens.

Am I awake during EVO ICL Surgery?

Sedation is given to help ease anxiety and make you sleepy. The amount of sedation given can be tailored to your needs. Some patients fall asleep from the sedation, while others feel relaxed but don't fall completely asleep.

How long is the recovery?

While many patients can see better within the first 24 hours after EVO ICL surgery, the speed of healing varies from patient to patient. Complete recovery can take a few weeks and up to a couple months.

Does EVO ICL surgery hurt?

For most patients, EVO ICL surgery is painless. The eye is numbed using numbing eye drops and gel.

Can I drive myself home from surgery?

We recommend that a family or friend drives you home from surgery. The sedation and surgery will impact your ability to drive that day. Safety first.

Do I need to wear an eye patch after surgery?

It's important to avoid rubbing your eyes after EVO ICL surgery. While patching your eyes closed is not necessary, a clear shield that you can see through is provided. This serves as a barrier if you forget and try to rub your eye. We recommend sleeping with this eye shield for the first week after surgery.

How long does EVO ICL surgery take?

Routine EVO ICL surgery typically takes about 5-10 minutes to complete per eye. The outpatient surgery center will ask that you arrive 1-2 hours prior to your surgery for preparation.

Risks of EVO ICL Surgery?

There are risks with all surgery, and EVO ICL is no different. Although complications are rare, potential complications include over-correction, under-correction, infection, high eye pressure, a poorly positioned EVO ICL lens that needs repositioning, or a EVO ICL lens that does fit well and needs replacement, and decreased vision.

Can I see what you're doing during EVO ICL surgery?

No. Most patients describe seeing bright light, colors, and shadows during surgery, like a kaleidoscope.
