Comments:

The Johnson & Johnson Vision TECNIS Symfony OptiBlue IOL is an extended depth of focus (EDOF) lens designed to provide a significantly broader range of clear vision compared to conventional monofocal intraocular lenses. The OptiBlue lens is particularly distinguished by its excellent performance in improving both intermediate and distance vision. A key feature of this lens is its violet-light filter, specifically engineered to reduce the occurrence of halos and glare, particularly at night, enhancing visual comfort in low-light conditions. Some patients will still find night time halos and glare bothersome. For your surgeon's convenience, the Symfony lens arrives preloaded, streamlining the surgical procedure. Importantly, it also has the capability to neutralize astigmatism, offering a more comprehensive vision correction for many patients. It's generally understood that the near vision performance of EDOF lenses, including the OptiBlue, may not be as robust as that provided by multifocal lenses. Surgeons often recommend an EDOF lens like the Symfony OptiBlue for patients who may not be ideal candidates for multifocal technology due to pre-existing retinal conditions or a potential intolerance to the starbursts, halos, or glare sometimes associated with multifocal designs. We encourage you to consult with your surgeon to determine if the TECNIS Symfony OptiBlue IOL is the right choice for your individual visual needs and lifestyle.
